Arne Myrabo , 67, died Monday, February 4, at his Monticello home with family by his side.
Arne was born May 16, 1951 in Sioux Falls, SD to Dr. Arnold and Irene Myrabo.
In 1969 he graduated from Washington Senior High School in Sioux Falls, SD. Then, in 1975, he graduated from Iowa State University with a master’s degree in nuclear engineering. He worked for General Electric in San Jose, CA and later for NSP (Excel Energy) from which he retired in 2010.
He married Judy Steineke on Aug 4, 1971. They were “two peas in a pod” during their time together.
Arne was an avid reader and loved cycling and canoeing with his hand made canoes. He spent his retirement years volunteering and teaching as a Minnesota Master Naturalist and he was one of the founders of the Minnesota Dragonfly Society. He was also a reserve deputy with the Wright County Sheriff’s Reserves.
Arne is survived by his brothers, Ken (Anne), Leik, Sunny Pulley, Ray (Sue); and nieces and nephews.
Arne was preceded in death by his parents. He will be remembered for his can do attitude and just being an “engineer”.
There will be a memorial gathering of friends and family for Arne at the Monticello American Legion, 304 Elm Street, from 2:00pm-6:00pm on Friday, February 15, 2019.
