Lynnea C. Gillham (Swanberg), age 95 of Monticello, passed away on April 26, 2019 at the Monticello Care Center. She was born in Monticello on July 15th, 1923 to Walter and Cecilia (Dearing) Swanberg.
Preceded in death by parents; husband, Howard Gillham; sister, Marilyn; and grandson, Cory Gillham. Survived by children, Lance (Judy), Gregg (Suzanne), Tom and Mary Colleen (Mel) Zierke; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Upon graduating from Monticello High School as Valedictorian, she was married to Howard Gillham. They were married for 66 years until his passing in 2008.
After raising their four children, Lynnea embarked on a “second career.” She became the City Clerk for the City of Monticello for over 20 years until her retirement. She then made another “career change” when she became a demo lady at Maus Foods and Target. You could safely say that she never met a stranger.
Lynnea was a member of Saint Henry’s Parish and the Women’s Guild for many years. She had a zest for life and a passion for the Timberwolves and the Vikings, but those did not impede her passion for “cards.” She was the first at the table and the last to leave. She was also a founding member of a group of ladies that played cards together every week for over 50 years.
Most of all, her family always came first. She exuded dedication and kindness to them as well as everyone she had come to know. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 3 at 10:30AM with visitation beginning at 9AM at the Church of Saint Henry, 1001 7th Street East, Monticello. Interment in Saint Henry’s Cemetery.
