Brenda Lori Breum, age 61 of Monticello, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on her 44th Wedding Anniversary, Friday, November 29, 2024. She was born in Litchfield on November 19, 1963 to Harlan and Judith (Good) Hayungs.
Brenda attended Barrett High School in Barrett, MN. Brenda started a career in sales, primarily in the grocery industry for several years. Also relating to sales, she sold automobiles alongside Wayne who handled the finances. She was a skilled entrepreneur and owned local Dollar Stores businesses, seven hair salons in and around Monticello, and most recently she and Wayne restored Park Model Homes at TCCOM. She took pride and joy in designing the interior and using her marketing degree to list and sell the park model homes.
On November 29, 1980, Brenda married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Breum. Brenda and Wayne were the epitome of love and marriage. Together, they developed their own business, Breum Enterprise LLC. Their love of traveling took them on many trips, enjoyable cruises, and traveling in their motorhome in the winter down in Texas that allowed them to spend time with their son and his family. Her most enjoyable cruise was the one with all eleven of her family together.
Brenda enjoyed spending many beautiful Minnesota days at the river watching the majestic eagles soar above. She also enjoyed driving around in her Corvette, listening to music, she loved people and getting to really know you, and family brought her the greatest joy. She never missed a child or grandchild’s sporting events. She was their biggest cheerleader, always there to support and celebrate their achievements. Her love for her daughter-in-law and son-in-law was enormous, often being their biggest supporter.
Brenda had a big heart and really cared for all. Even in her final days, she made a point to sit individually with her family to talk and listen with them. She had a positive attitude throughout life, and especially with her cancer diagnosis, fighting until the end to be around her loving family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harlan Hayungs; beloved bulldog, Rolo; and parents-in-law, Halvor Breum and Elsie Iverson.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Wayne Breum; children, Allen (Kristen) Breum, Alicia (Ryan) Anderson; grandchildren, Kara, Lucas, Alex, Ava, Drew; mother, Judy Hayungs; siblings, Eileen (Tom) Tvrdik, Cindy (Mike) Neuwirth, Shelly (Greg) Schelin; sister-in-law, Beverly (Steve) Wegner; Godfather, Vern Suhr; beloved bulldog, Ole; and many other family and numerous friends.
Brenda enjoyed helping others, and it was her request that in lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Party For A Purpose; which is an organization that helps local cancer patients and their loved ones while fighting cancer.
