Age, 95, Of Monticello. Passed away on October 28, 2021.
Carolyn was born in Minneapolis on August 19, 1926, when the family lived in Silver Creek, Minnesota. She moved to Monticello in 1935 and graduated from Monticello High School in 1943. She attended Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MInnesota in 1947. She taught school in Stewartville, Minnesota. She worked as a Bacteriologist for the city of Fort Worth, Texas – then as a Serologist for the Minnesota State Board of Health on the U of M campus. In December 1949 she married George Phillips. She was an active member of the Catholic Church of St. Henry in Monticello.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Phillips; parents, H.N. and Anna Lungwitz; brother, Dale (Mary) Lungwitz.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Brad and Bryan (Gladis); grandchildren, Sarah and Ben Phillips; brother, Jim (Kay) Lungwitz; beloved family members.
Mass of Christian burial on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Henry Catholic Church, 1001 E 7th Street, Monticello, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also on Thursday, November 4 from 6:00-8:00PM at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, with prayer service at 6:30PM.
