Dagmar Edda (Biebel) Abfalter, lovingly known as “Dagi”, passed away in St. Cloud, Minnesota on February 10, 2026, at the age of 84. Dagi was born on November 17, 1941, in Hamburg, Germany, to Hans and Herta (Shineman) Biebel. She later made her home in Minnesota, where she devoted part of her life to caring for others at Saint Ben’s Senior Community Center in St. Cloud. It was while working as a cashier that she met the love of her life, her husband of 37 years, Jerry.
Dagi and Jerry shared a deep love of travel, often returning to Germany and enjoying vacations in Florida and Mexico. She had a passion for good cuisine, reading, beautiful and elegant things, and above all, the joy of children. Dagi also had a special love for animals and found great comfort and happiness in their companionship. Dagi loved talking weekly with her sister Marlis, maintaining a strong connection with family and her German heritage. Known for her warmth and gentle spirit, she never forgot a face and formed lifelong friendships wherever she went. She lived her life spreading kindness, grace, and genuine care to everyone she encountered.
Dagi is survived by her sister, Marlis Platte; niece Brigid Platte; nephew Dirk Platte; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Cherrie Abfalter, Jeanette and Steve Vacek, Jill and Tom Peterson, Tom Abfalter, and Kevin and Holly Abfalter; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who cherished her deeply. She is also lovingly remembered by her beloved dog, Angel, who filled her days with joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry; and her parents Hans and Herta.
Dagi’s life was a beautiful reflection of compassion, connection, and generosity. She taught those around her the power of kindness, the importance of remembering people, moments that matter, and the joy of embracing life’s simple pleasures. Her gentle heart, welcoming spirit, and unconditional love for both people and animals touched countless lives.
Though her passing leaves an empty space in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved Jerry once again. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. Visitation and a Time of Remembrance will be held from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel ~ Monticello.
