Daniel "Dan" Patrick Zahler

 Daniel Patrick “Dan” Zahler, age 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, December 14, 2025. He passed away at home with his wife Ruth by his side. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Archie Otto and Marjorie Delia Zahler/Barthel; and his siblings James Zahler, and Linda Schumm.  He is survived by sons Thomas (Kelly), Ryan (Erin), and Cody (Nathaly); grandchildren Clarice, Ezra, Mackenzie, Grayson, and Ashton; sisters Bonnie (Adam) Hines, and Barbara (Ron) Weber; and other relatives and friends. Through his death, Dan was set free from his ten year journey with Alzheimer’s and made whole again through Christ. Ruth devotedly cared for him through the years up until his passing. Dan was a very quiet and loving man. One of his greatest joys in life was to be with his family. Whether it was watching a movie, sliding, or going out to eat, he especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Taking Ezra, his oldest grandson, to coin shows, attending his granddaughter Clarice’s dance recitals or having them all over for sleep overs always proved to be a special time.  Dan married his wife Ruth on May 12, 1979 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Buffalo, MN.  They lived in the Monticello area most of their life while also living in Big Lake and St. Michael.  Dan worked in the lumber industry all of his life until health issues made him retire early. He then helped Ruth with her drapery business, and they traveled a lot for this work providing custom draperies for senior living facilities.
