Dean Richard Flynn, age 90 of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Monticello, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024. He was born in White Earth, MN, on October 4, 1934 to James and Ethel (Bellefeuille) Flynn.
Dean graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He worked at Tomlinsons Lumber in Callaway, MN; but his passion was as a barber. He attended Barber School and worked in Minneapolis. He later owned his own barbershop on Lake Street for more than 40 years until his retirement.
On October 2, 1982, Dean Flynn and Judith Procter were united in marriage.
Dean enjoyed their lake home on Locke Lake before moving to their home in Monticello. Dean also enjoyed golfing and working in his beautiful flower garden in Monticello. Dean and Judy wintered many years in Arizona. Dean also looked forward to his afternoon “happy hours” with his Eagle Court neighbors. Dean was a cheerful, happy go lucky guy with a contagious personality. He had a big heart and was thankful for everything.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Flynn; parents, James and Ethel Flynn; and siblings, James Flynn, Wayne Flynn, Joyce Matter.
Dean is survived by his siblings, Tom (Ginger) Flynn, Pat (Bob) Krebsbach; stepchildren, Timothy (Jill) Procter, Chris (Tami) Procter; grandchildren, Tim Troy, Eric Procter, Ashlee Procter, Brett Procter, T.J. Procter; great-grandchildren, Allie, Ryleigh, Josiah, Conner, Jaxson, Braxton, Savannah; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
We want to express our thanks to the wonderful staff at Lincoln Park Assisted Living and Oak Crossing Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes for the compassionate care they have shown to Dean and our family.
