Delores Reed Obituary

Delores Emma Reed, age 89, passed away on November 13, 2025 at St. Benedicts in Monticello, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Reed; parents; five sisters; and one brother.

Delores is survived by two sons, Michael (Joann) Hubred, Kevin (Susie) Hubred; and daughter, Debora (Kenneth) Souer; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Delores spent most of her younger years growing up in the Hoffman, West Port and Glenwood area. After entering high school, Delores was nominated Queen of her class and was also a cheerleader who made up many of the cheers and routines they did. Delores was a wonderful athlete. Her favorite sport was softball. She hit so many home runs that the principal called her Babe Ruth.

Delores was married at the age of 18 and had three children in four years. Delores spent several years working as a waitress and working in factories. She found her niche as an Interior Decorator for 18 years and was top in sales in the state for many years receiving many trophies, prizes and free trips. Delores said the most rewarding career she had was being a caregiver to the elderly and handicapped, lasting over 20 years until her retirement at age 70.

Delores loved to dance to old-time music and taught many relatives and friends how to dance the Polka and Walz. She also loved to play the card game 500 and taught anyone who was willing to learn, especially her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Delores’ favorite pastime was spending time with family and hosting many holidays and reunions. She was known for making up dances or skits for the youngest of the family to perform at the family gatherings. She made sure that pictures were taken at every occasion and later put together a family genealogy book using these pictures. Many did not know that Delores’ dream was to become an actress in Hollywood. She wrote 2 songs that were set to music and wrote many pieces of poetry about her loved ones or special occasions. The last five years, Delores spent hours knitting hats, scarfs, and afghans for her family and the caregivers at St. Benedicts. She loved reading historical fiction and was often found asleep in the wee hours of the morning with a book in her hand, the lights on, and her readers still on. She touched so many lives, told many people about the love of Jesus, and created fond memories that will never be forgotten.

Everyone who knew Delores was blessed by her generous nature, her humor, her positive, fun-loving attitude, and her deep love and concern for others.

She will be missed dearly.
