Dennis R. Arnold

Dennis R. Arnold, age 71 of Big Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.  

Dennis was born November 13, 1952 to Glen and Hattie Arnold, growing up on a farm in rural Monticello. Dennis married Jaye Anne Papke on April 15, 1977, and they had two sons together before Jaye unexpectedly passed away on August 6, 1979.

After graduation from Monticello High School, Dennis learned the trade of cabinetmaking. He started Arnold’s Custom Cabinets out of his home workshop, with many local residents still proudly displaying his craftsmanship in their homes decades later. Upon retiring from cabinetmaking, he spent his career doing general carpentry work.

Dennis was active throughout much of his adult life, and he especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, bowling, and trapshooting. He had many friends, and lots of good times were had at the Legion, VFW, and “The Zoo”. In his later years he loved being a grandpa and a cat dad.

Dennis is survived by his two children: Russell (Erin) of Sedona, AZ, and Brian (Erin) of Forest Lake, MN; grandchildren Reagan and Jadyn. He is preceded in death by his wife Jaye Papke Arnold, parents, and brothers Douglas and Dale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dennis’s name are preferred to your local animal shelter or rescue organization.

A private interment and celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at a later date.
