Donald Bauer Obituary

Age 67, of Austin, TX, formerly of Monticello, MN, passed away March 11, 2019 at the Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Augusta, MN.

Don was born on November 27, 1951 in Bismarck, N.D., the third child of Walter and Kathryn (Rohrich) Bauer. He was raised in Steele, N.D. and graduated from Steele High School in 1969.

He is preceded in death by his father Walter.

Don is survived by his mother, Kathryn; two daughters, Delaine (Ken Lindsay) and Dawn Bauer; three grandsons, Colton, Brennan and Archer Lindsay; siblings, Susan (Mike Benedetto), Chuck Bauer (Yvette) and Carol (Gary Smith); ex wife and mother to his daughters, Delphine; and Honorary Brother J.R. Riser.

Don was involved in the construction trades throughout most of his life. He worked in Alaska for more than 10 years on the pipeline construction as well as being the owner of a drywall company. Don Settled in Monticello in 1986. With his brother Chuck, they formed the C&D Construction Company. Together they built numerous residential homes in the Monticello area.

Other than his family, Don’s great passion was riding his Harley motorcycle. He loved the individuality and freedom of the open road. He would make numerous long bike trips in all types of weather halfway across the country to visit family and friends. One of the most important parts of his life was the friendship and goodwill he made when he was accepted into the Vietnam Vets Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club. Many lasting friendships were shared with his club brothers. Don participated in the clubs activities to raise funds for those in need, and participated in a number of bike rallies throughout the country to raise funds and interest in the Missing in Action, and POW causes.

A service will be held on Friday, March 15, 12 Noon, visitation one hour prior to service at the Peterson Grimsmo Chapel (250 E. Broadway, Monticello, MN 55362).

In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Augusta, MN.
