Donald "Don" Eickstadt Obituary

Donald Lyle Eickstadt age 56 years old of Monticello, MN passed away peacefully at St. Cloud Hospital on Thursday, September 29th, 2022. The love of his life for 34 years, Rochelle, was by his side. Don was born October 11th, 1965 in Minneapolis, MN to Donald G. and Shirley M. Eickstadt joining 4 older brothers Craig, Keith, Martin, and Archie. He spent his childhood growing up in
NE Minneapolis and in Coon Rapids, MN during his teenage years. Later settling in Minneapolis again in his early adult years. During this time he gained a plethora of lifelong friends that he would go on numerous hunting and fishing adventures with. Don met the love of his life Rochelle in 1988. He proudly took on the role as a father to Rochelle’s children Brittney and Brandon. In 1991 they welcomed a daughter, Nichole. Together they lived in Brooklyn Park until finally building their forever home in Monticello, MN in 2002. Shortly afterward welcoming another daughter Rylee in 2003. However, he found his real joy in life being a grandpa to his 5 grandsons. He was employed by All Elements Inc. for 16 years as the warehouse manager and crane operator. He took great pride in his work and continuing education for his position. Don was known as one of the greatest story tellers. Going into theatrical, and often hilarious detail of stories pertaining to his love of hunting and fishing or life experiences. He had traveled throughout Canada and other great states to pursue his most loved hobbies. With these adventures mostly including his best friend Ron Lindenberg, Dassel friends, and nephew Jon Porter. He had a passion for the outdoors and you could find him in the woods or out on a lake year round with his wirehaired pointing griffon, Otto. His zest for life and wisdom was unmatched. Often leading one into a life lesson with his stories. Don never met a stranger and was loved by anyone who crossed his path. His enthusiasm was magnetic and he was truly one of a kind. He had gained friends from every walk of life, young and old, because he understood the highs and lows that life brings. He was always one to wear his heart on his sleeve. We are forever grateful to have known such a wonderful, kind hearted man. He truly was the definition of selfless as he would give his last to anyone in need.
Survived by the love of his life for 34 years Rochelle; children Brittney (Anthony) Mastrian of Monticello, MN, Brandon (Amanda) Cavness of Hastings, MN, Nichole Eickstadt (Cody Jensen)
of Chancellor, SD, and Rylee Eickstadt of Monticello, MN; grandchildren Nolan, Aden, Alex, Austin, and Andrew; mother & father-in- law Gilmer & Bonnie Gulbranson; brothers Keith Porter and Archie Eliason; numerous nieces and nephews, and other beloved friends, coworkers, and extended family; also last, but not least, his best hunting dog and companion Otto. Preceded in death by his parents Donald G. and Shirley M. Eickstadt; brothers Craig Porter, and Martin Eliason. Our family would like to extend our greatest appreciation to Larry Wiler and Chris Wallin for assisting in helping in an emergency, Wright County Sheriffs, EMS, and the staff at St. Cloud Hospital for their compassion and care they have shown to our family. Don will be forever missed, but we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with our Lord exploring the beautiful woods and lakes of heaven.
