Frieda Kramer Culp, age 95, of Monticello, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 13, 2025 at St. Benedict’s Community in Monticello, MN.
Frieda was born on April 26, 1930 to Fred and Katherine (Wanner) Kramer of Logan County, ND and was raised on a farm near Wishek, ND. She traveled by bus, after missing her train, by herself, just before her senior year. She graduated from Central High School in Mpls, MN, in 1948.
Frieda worked for Sunshine Biscuit Company in Mpls, until getting married to Joseph Richard Culp, on November 5, 1950. They had 10 children and made their home in Crystal, MN until moving to the farm in January of 1965, at Monticello, MN. It was common to have extra-large gardens, as well as, raising pigs, chickens, and ducks, every year.
Frieda truly loved Jesus, her family and her friends. She also enjoyed music, playing games, bird watching, and flowers.
Frieda was a member of St. Peters Evan. Lutheran Church and served with the Ladies Guild many years. She participated in the local Red Hat society also.
She was an excellent cook and kept us all well fed. After 54 years of marriage, Joe passed away from cancer.
Frieda never drove a car, never owned a computer or a cell phone. Her grandchildren and great grans were a delight to her, and she wanted to see them often. She really liked to travel and visited many places with family and friends.
Frieda was often outside walking, usually twice a day, as long as she was able.
She is survived by her children: Katherine Adams, Bryan, TX; Joan Osmundson, (Stan) Andover, MN; Fred Culp (Patty), Monticello, MN; Betty Jones, (Al) Big Lake, MN; Norma Neu (Joe), Monticello, MN; Shari Hayes, Becker, MN; sister Shirley Clough, Bloomington, MN; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Frieda is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents Fred and Katherine Kramer; sisters Leona Snyder, Wilma Rehbine; children, Gerald, Richard, Mary Ann, and Gordon.
A “Celebration of Life” service for Frieda will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 413 E. 3rd St., Monticello, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00am. Interment at Fort Snelling Cemetery, Mpls, MN, will be on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 1:30pm. She will be dearly missed by all.
