Gina Schaffer Obituary

Gina Lillian Schaffer

02/01/2006 – 08/01/2024

An angel was taken from earth unto heaven on her 18 ½ birthday. Gina was involved in a fatal accident while dirt biking across Wyoming on an adventure with her dad and her beloved identical twin sister, Dinah.

Gina was the most faithful, caring, and silly person you will ever meet. She was an influential leader in many meaningful life ministries. She wanted everyone to be loved, respected, and to follow Jesus.

Gina was a valedictorian of the Monticello High School graduating class of 2024. In the last 4 years Gina has made a lasting impact in Unified programs across Minnesota. She played soccer, but what she valued even more was coaching the younger generation. One of Gina’s greatest joys was leading worship with Dinah at church on Sunday mornings. She played the flute for 8 years and loved to express herself through music. If you knew Gina, you knew a master chef who adored cooking for her family and friends. Dinah and Gina’s dream was to own cafes and employ individuals with and without special needs.  The family’s saying was, “Everyone needs a Gina.”

She is survived by her father Joseph, mother Amy (Buck), brother Elymus, sister Lucy, twin sister Dinah, and boyfriend Wyatt. Grandparents Tom and Ann Buck of St. Michael, MN and Grandpa Paul Schaffer of Savage, MN and The Villages, FL. She is loved by aunts and uncles John and Sherry, Tammy and Jason, Jacob and Genevieve, Jeffrey and Sarah, Emily and Nick. Cousins Eleanor, Adaline, Breckan, Samuel, Jillian, Natalie, Frank, Avila, Sydney, Blaise, Rosemary, Evelyn, Gloria, Victory, Henry, and William. She was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her Grandma Doris, where they are busy decorating sugar cookies together.

Services are being arranged by Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel of Monticello, MN. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 8th at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael, MN at 4pm with the visitation beginning at 1pm. The service is being led by Gina’s pastor, Jedidiah of Resurrection Lutheran Church. The family requests that guests wear green or blue, her favorite colors. All are welcome to a celebration of her life at Gina’s favorite place, the Schaffer house on Friday, August 9th from 2pm-midnight. Feel free to wear a shirt you feel represents Gina; faith-based, soccer, dance, unified.

Thursday's service will be livestreamed: https://www.youtube.com/c/StMichaelCatholicChurchStMichaelMN

Gina was put on earth to do God’s work, and her greatest act is the impact she left on the world.
