Gleva Belle (Crawford) Creswell-Berndt

Went to be with her LORD and SAVIOR on May 10, 2021.  She was born to John & Jesse (Roundy) Crawford on Jan 4, 1920 in Aberdeen, SD.  Gleva grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from high school and two years of teachers college.  Gleva taught in Ipswich, SD country school.  She married Alpheus Creswell in 1940.  They moved to Barnard, SD to farm.  In 1950 they were headed for New York but had to stop in Big Lake, MN since she was expecting and the Doctor advised them to wait until the baby was born to go on.  They found a farm in Big Lake and decided to stay.  They raised four children, thousands of chickens, many pigs, and a few cows.  They supplied the local restaurants, schools, and many customers with eggs.

After the loss of her husband and son in 1974, she married Clifton Berndt in 1975 and they enjoyed travelling, and farming until Clifton passed away in 1999.  She will be remembered for her kindness, love for everyone, treasure hunts for her grandchildren every summer, beautiful quilts and huge gardens. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Al; son, Loren; son-in-law, Jim Blonigen; second husband, Clifton; sister, Loraine Miller; brother, Gordon Crawford.

Gleva is survived by children, Roland (Cindi) Creswell of Fort Worth, TX, Nellie Blonigen of Big Lake, MN, and John (Carrie) Creswell of Big Lake, MN; 3 stepchildren; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed and treasured by all.

Funeral service at 11:00AM on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Riverside Church, 20314 County Road 14, Big Lake with visitation one hour before service.  Visitation also on Thursday, May 13 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 E Broadway, Monticello.
