Gregory John Roden was born on April 10, 1939, in Albertville, Minnesota and passed away on August 27, 2023 at his residence in Monticello. The son of Louis and Anna (Koch) Roden, he was baptized and confirmed in Albertville and graduated in 1957 from Elk River High School. He married Teresa Breun on September 5, 1964. They resided in Monticello and raised five children, Audrey, Charlotte, Annette, Joseph, and David. Greg was a lifelong carpenter and was always tinkering in the garage. He enjoyed the outdoors and whenever the fish were biting, he was out on the water. The family enjoyed many a fish fries from his catches. Greg took great pride in his yard, especially the creek in the backyard. Any time he could spend with the grandchildren whether it be at the creek, fishing, hunting, or watching their sporting events, brought him great joy. Greg also enjoyed a good game of cards and socializing with others. Greg was a lifelong member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and he and Teresa remained faithful Catholics through the years, raising their children in the faith. He volunteered in many ways at St. Henry's. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Teresa (Breun) Roden; children Audrey Moore, Charlotte Wemple, Annette Schaufler (fiance Steve), Joseph (Nancy) Roden, and David (Amidee) Roden; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Yvonne Roden. Greg was preceded in death by parents Louis and Anna; brothers John, Daniel, and Louis; sisters Viola Roden, Bernadette Barthel, Ruth Otremba, Valeria Kolles, Rose Mary Roden, Dorothy Roden, and Margaret Heinen. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 4-8 PM with Vigil Service at 5 PM at the Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 E. Broadway St, Monticello. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, September 1, 2023 with visitation from 9:30 AM till time of Mass at the Church of Saint Henry, 1001 E. 7th Street, Monticello. Interment St. Henry's Cemetery.
