Idell was born on February 25, 1929, to Ben & Ida Loeks of Doran, MN. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1947. Idell farmed before joining the Marine Corp in 1950. He was stationed for 2 years at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA. Once he was discharged from the Marine Corp, Idell returned to Campbell, MN and took up farming with his dad and brothers.
On July 20, 1957, Idell married Eileen Matheson. They made their home in Campbell, MN where he continued to farm. In 1969 Idell & Eileen sold their farming stock and equipment and moved their family to Blaine, MN. There he worked as a welder at Barry Blower until his retirement in 1991.
Idell’s first wife, Eileen, passed away on February 12, 1986, and he married his second wife, Allie Burnquist, on August 19, 1989. Idell and Allie made their home in East Bethel, MN.
Idell enjoyed, gardening, painting, drawing, photography, woodworking, and hunting. He was an active member of Spring Lake Park Baptist Church.
Idell was preceded in death by his parents, Ben & Ida Loeks; wives, Eileen Matheson Loeks and Allie Burnquist Loeks; siblings, Wildy Loeks, Bernard Loeks, Toby Loeks, and Gloria Wateland; son-in-law, Daniel Huff.
Idell is survived by his children, Bradley (Linda), Buffalo, MN, and Annette (Daniel Huff d.1996), Cambridge, MN; grandchildren, Emily (Kaleb Erickson) Loeks, Jeremy (Erica) Loeks, Matthew (Audra), Janna (Ronald Dee) & Rebekah Huff; great- grandchildren, Sophie, and Bennett Loeks; Elijah, Jeremiah, Noah, and Evelyn Huff; and Miriam and Gemma Dee; and sisters, Clara Bell Johnson, and Binnie Strom.
