Jack Nystrom

August 14, 1944 – November 16, 2022

Jack Nystrom, a resident of Bovey, MN passed away on November 16, 2022 at the age of 78.  He battled Alzheimer’s and Dementia for over a year.  Jack was also a longtime resident of Monticello, MN. 

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Dayton; his mother, Dorothy (Marx); his brother, Gary; and his sister, Linda. 

Jack is survived by his children, Steve (Jamey) Nystrom, Dan (Emily) Nystrom, and Jeff Nystrom; his sister, Betsy Nystrom; and three grandsons and one granddaughter. 

Jack graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He worked for 3M in St. Paul and Excel Energy (NSP) in Monticello until he retired. 

Jack was involved in numerous gun clubs throughout his years of life.  They included The Monticello Rod and Gun Club, The Monticello Sportsmen Club, and the Hibbing Rifle and Pistol Club.  Jack loved his hunting trips to Montana and South Dakota as well as “going up north” to the cabin with his boys to hunt grouse and deer.  The up-north adventures continued in the winter while snowmobiling with the family, Gordy, and Uncle Jim. 

A special thank you to the workers and caretakers at the Wellstead of Rogers and Diamondcrest where Jack lived out the last months of his life. 

A heartfelt thank you to Phil and Toni Hansen and Uncle Jim and Aunt Marie Jones for all your time spent preparing meals, helping with house maintenance, and caring for dad’s needs.  Our family is forever grateful. 

Jack’s family will be having a celebration of life during the summer of 2023.
