Janice "Jan" Faye (Johnson) Hanson

Janice Faye Hanson, age 75 of Monticello passed away on April 4, 2025, surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born to Norvel and Betty Johnson on September 25, 1949 in Park Rapids, MN. She was united in marriage to Richard Alan Hanson on April 15, 1967. Together they raised two sons, Steven and Mark. She worked for many years at Carlson Dolls in Maple Lake and later years in the bakery and deli of Cub Foods in Monticello. Jan loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and attending fishing tournaments. Her hobbies included baking, puzzles, and playing cards.

Jan is survived by Richard, her husband of 57 years; sons Steven (Laurie) of Monticello and Mark (Deanna) of Pine City; grandchildren Erick (Alex) Hanson, Sadie (Austin) Wilkes, Matthew Hanson, and Samantha (Gabe) Soriano; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers Delmar (Jan) of Fairbanks, AK, Dale of Wilmar, MN, and David (Roxy) of Walker, MN; sister Nancy (Keith) Hannasch of Monticello; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jan was preceded in death by parents Norvel and Betty Johnson, and father and mother-in-law Vernon and Betty Hanson.

A memorial service will be held at 5 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 Broadway Street E., Monticello. Visitation will be held from 3 PM – 5 PM.  Luncheon to follow at the funeral home in the Community Room.
