Jeffrey "Jeff" Gene Rask

Jeffrey “Jeff” Gene Rask, 63, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. 

Jeff was born to Laurel and Bonnie Rask in Monticello, MN on August 4, 1959.  He attended Monticello High School, where he met the love of his life, Shelley, on October 2, 1977.  After graduating from high school, he married Shelley on October 27, 1979.  In 1984, they welcomed their first child, Rachel.  Two years later, they welcomed their second child, Joseph “Joe”, into the world.  Their third and final child, Bryan, was born in 1991. 

Jeff was widely beloved for his patience and good humor in any and all situations.  He worked in manufacturing, assuming a variety of leadership roles throughout his life.  He excelled in those positions and was a positive role model for everyone lucky enough to have interacted with him. 

Jeff was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan, coaching a number of his children’s youth sports teams.  Jeff’s love of his family was followed closely by his love of fishing.  When he wasn’t out on the lakes catching record-sized fish with his friends Dennis, Chuck, and Lonnie, you could find him fixing anything and everything for his wife and children.  His family’s only knowledge of how to do anything was “call Dad”, and he was always there. 

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie.  

He is survived by his wife, Shelley; his children, Rachel, Joe, Bryan (Yuan); his grandchildren, Aubrey, Logan, Celia; his father, Laurel; his brothers, Jamie (Lois), Greg; his sister, Roxanne; and his dog/best friend, Shadow. 

A memorial service will be held at the Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Home in Monticello, MN on Friday, January 20, 2023.  Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a period of sharing and short service.
