JoAnn Maltman Obituary

Age 76 of Monticello passed away on August 15, 2019 at St Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls Minnesota.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Maltman, children Barbie Berg (Steve) of Maple Lake, Dale Anderson (Tracy) of Las Vegas and Scott Anderson of Monticello,  grandchildren Ryan Berg (Amber), Colin Berg ( Micayla), Dusty Joe Anderson and Noelle Berg.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents and big sister Gloria Bartel.

She was born on November 2, 1942 to Frank and Evelyn Personius in Fairmont Minnesota.  When she was a young girl the family moved to Limestone Lake in Silver Creek where she grew up fishing with her dad and spending time with her cousins and friends.

JoAnn was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Creek in 1957 and attended Monticello High School where she was the drum major in the marching band.  She graduated in 1960 and wed Darryle Anderson that same year.  They went on to have three children.

In 1975 JoAnn married Richard Longley.  Together they owned and operated The Glass Hut in Monticello until 1988 when they moved to Las Vegas.  JoAnn loved the warm sunshine in Las Vegas and had many happy years there.  She loved to country line dance with her girlfriends and play with her dogs.

In 2000 JoAnn married Jerry Maltman and they relocated back to Monticello in 2012.   She loved attending the monthly “Class of 1960” luncheons. JoAnn was a straight talker and a doting grandmother.

In December 2017 JoAnn suffered a massive stroke that left her unable to walk.  She received loving care at St Otto’s Care Center until her passing.  She made many new friends and it was there that she rekindled her Christian faith.  She spent her last days pain-free with a constant stream of visitors and calls.  She passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 12449 Clementa Ave NW, Monticello on September 20th at 5pm.  Fellowship and visitation one hour prior.
