Joseph "Joe" Pixomatis

Joseph Pixomatis, age 84 of Monticello passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Joe was born March 21, 1940 in Dickinson, North Dakota. 

He graduated from Saint Leo’s School in 1955 and later join the US Marine Corps in 1958 and served until 1964. Joe worked for the Minot North Dakota Fire Department and transferred to Minneapolis Fire Department in 1970 and reached the rank of Captain before retiring in 1999. Joe also worked part time for Medibus Basic Life Ambulance Service in Minneapolis and US Postal Service in Anoka and Andover for several years.

One of Joe’s favorite hobbies was playing bingo. Joe also loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel to Greece and see where his father was born and meet a few of his first cousins. 

He is survived by his four children, Michael (Sally) Pixomatis, Maryann (Reid) Keister, Jodie Pixomatis, and Mark (Jennifer) Pixomatis; nine grandchildren, Michael (Diana) Pixomatis; Brianna (Mathew) Cisson); Kathieann (Ryan) Poorman; Melissa (Alex) Klinefelter, Amber (Darrik) Warr, Trenton (Ezra) Pixomatis, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Lipskoch, Torie (Chris) Davis, Tava Pixomatis; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathie Pixomatis. 

We would like to thank Centra Care Home Care and Hospice and especially Lisa, RN for her tender love and care to Joe and our family during our difficult journey.   

Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11am-12pm at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel in Monticello. The funeral service will be at 12pm with lunch to follow. A private family interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
