Karan Jo Wilmot, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.
Born on October 14, 1943, Karan brought warmth, strength, and kindness to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Joe Harstad, and her grandson, Nicholas Pidde.
Karan and Leslie were both raised in Jamestown North Dakota where their lifelong love story began. They married in 1960, building a life together centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion to each other.
Karan is survived by her devoted husband, Leslie Wilmot; her cherished children Jacqueline (Mike) Kurth, Les Jr. (Mary) Wilmot, Mark (Lisa) Wilmot, Michael (Suki) Wilmot, and Kelli (Alan) Pidde; her loving sisters Jeri and Bette, and brother Gary. Her legacy lives on through her 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply blessed to know her love.
Karan’s life was anchored by her deep Catholic faith, which guided her in every season of life. As a devoted member of Saint Henry’s Catholic Church in Monticello, Minnesota, she found strength in prayer, joy in service, and comfort in her church community. Her faith was the quiet foundation of her life, evident in the grace, compassion, and devotion she showed to everyone around her.
Her life was defined by her unwavering commitment to family, her generous heart, and her quiet resilience. She had a special way of making those around her feel seen, heard, and cared for. She will be remembered always for her gentle presence and the countless lives she touched.
Visitation will be held from 6-8PM, Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Church of Saint Henry, 1001 E. 7th Street, Monticello. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 11AM with visitation 1 hour prior at Saint Henry's with interment immediately after Mass at St. Henry's Catholic Church Cemetery in Monticello. A luncheon will be served at the church following the burial.
