Kathleen was born in Brookings, SD to Frank & Delores Weinrich. She attended a one room country school until 6th grade when she transferred to Estelline Public Schools. She graduated from Estelline High School in 1966.
She obtained a degree in Library Science from Wayne State University in Nebraska and continued a Masters degree from St. Catherine’s in St Paul. She then worked for several firms in Minneapolis including GTA and LBG as an executive assistant.
In 2011 she married Dan Selken (a high school classmate) in Becker, MN. Kathleen and Dan made their home on the banks of the Mississippi River in Big Lake Township, MN. Kathleen and Dan loved traveling south for the winter enjoying Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Arizona.
Kathleen was diagnosed with a rare brain disease in 2015. She was able to continue traveling through many years with the disease and did not let it steal her wonderful smile and infectious laugh. Her smile continued until her last day.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents. Survived by Dan’s family, stepmother Carole and her step brothers & sisters.
Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monticello on Thursday, June 6th at 4pm with a service to follow at 5pm.
A service will also take place on Saturday, June 8th in Estelline, SD at Geise Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Estelline.
