Larry Vernon Veches, age 75 of Monticello, MN, lost his battle with cancer on December 15, 2022. Larry was born to Vernon and Marguerite (Yager) Veches on June 13, 1947 in Monticello.
A graduate of Monticello HS, Larry joined the US Army on October 13, 1966. He was stationed in Korea from 1967-68, completing his military service on October 10, 1969 as part of the 11th Signal Group out of Ft. Huachuca, AZ. While stationed there he met Joyce Barton (Ormes). Upon completion of his service, he returned to Monticello and the two married in St. Paul.
Larry is survived by 3 children, Trent (Tucson, AZ), Jason (St. Michael, MN), & Ciera (Monticello, MN); sisters, Carol (Bill Pollock), Lois (Owen Kingstedt), Karen Black, Nancy (Greg Clark), & Pam (Dan Erickson).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon & Marguerite; long-time partner, Vera Raumer; step-son, Jeff Raumer; friend, Lori Roushar; brother-in-law, Owen Kingstedt; nephews, John Pollock, Corey Kingstedt, & Justin Black.
Larry loved horses, and was a passionate Vikings fan. He was an avid hunter and fisherman whom for the past 30 years frequented the Ash River’s Frontier Resort with his cousin, Ron Yager. Larry valued time with friends at the local VFW and his regular breakfast at the former Country Kitchen in Monti.
A celebration of life for Larry will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM, with Military Honors at 12:00 PM, at the Monticello VFW, 713 Cedar Street, Monticello, MN.
