It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Laura Mary Nordby, age 45, of Monticello MN. She passed away unexpectedly on November 7, 2024.
Laura was born on August 21,1979 in Benson, MN. She grew up in Murdock, MN and graduated with honors from Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg High School in 1997. Laura accomplished her goal of earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services in 2019, graduating summa cum laude. Following graduation, Laura worked in the Human Service field, at Trellis and Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging. These roles allowed her to exercise her strengths and commitment to helping people of all cultures and abilities.
Laura was a very creative and talented artist and writer. She valued her connections with family and friends, enjoying time spent with them no matter the occasion. Her laugh was warm and contagious. One of Laura’s greatest joys was being Auntie to her niece and nephew. She had a deep empathy and connection with animals, drawing comfort from her many pets over the years. Laura courageously battled depression throughout her life. Tragically, this illness took her from us.
Laura is survived by her mother, Ellen Nordby; sister, Lisa (Jeff) Dupla and their children, Dylan and Lilly; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, many other family members, friends, and her beloved cat Kash. She is preceded in death by her father, Galen “Bruce” Nordby; grandparents, Howard and Laura Irene Nordby; Dr. Karl and Mary Louise Forster; and Mary Frances Forster.
A Private Family Service will be held.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations in Laura’s memory can be made to The Rescue Crew.
