Mary Theresa (Vollrath) Rausch

          On April 12, 2023, Mary Rausch, beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away at the age of 78 years young at Cherrywood Assisted Living in Big Lake, MN.  Mary was born in Fargo, ND and earned a degree in cosmetology in Fargo, ND.  Her passion for socializing with people and her faith in God led her to spend much time with these activities.  She went from working in a salon to owning her own business in Monticello, MN.  Her late first husband Jim Colbert and Mary were married in 1962.  They raised two very active boys, Chad and Cory, in Crystal, MN.  Later in life she married Luke Rausch, Sr. in 1979 and they had two additional children, Katie and Luke Jr. They traveled and moved across states finally settling in the Rogers, MN area.  Luke Sr. passed away suddenly in 1994 leaving Mary with two children to raise on her own, Katie and Luke Jr.  She had a passion for hair dressing and excelled in this talent.  In Mary’s golden years she enjoyed participating in a book club, attending meat raffles at the VFW, socializing with all of her friends, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Mary enjoyed discussing and debating politics with whoever would partake. Mary was known for her infectious laugh, compassion for others, and her wit.  Mary leaves behind her children Chad Colbert (Theresa Lemonds) of Big Lake, MN, Cory Colbert (Darlene) of Sierra Vista, AZ, Katie Banet (Shawn) of Jamestown, ND, and Luke Rausch Jr. of Becker, MN; nine grandchildren; and many dear and close friends.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 11AM – 3PM at the American Legion Post 260, 304 Elm Street, Monticello, MN.
