Age 75 of Monticello
Michael was born on April 20, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Willard Tesco Broughton and Rosemary Catherine (Tekip) Broughton. He graduated from Denby High School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and was stationed in South Korea where he met his wife. On October 27, 1968, he married Cho Tal Sun in Seoul, Korea. He was a car enthusiast in his youth and worked at the Chrysler Design Office after his honorable discharge from the service in 1973. He also took pride in restoring a ’64 Ford Falcon convertible. He was an incredible father and very devoted to his family. He was creative and artistic and relished the opportunity to design projects. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, movies, and Motown music. He invested in real estate properties and maintained a souvenir spoon business for over 10 years. He shipped spoons all over the U.S. and world, helping people connect past experiences with spoons and memorabilia.
Survivors include his wife Sue; sons George, and Steve Broughton; daughter Loretta Belt; grandchildren Michael, Mackenzie, Callie, Ben, Logan, Gavin, and Tyler; sister Marianne Broughton of Michigan; brother John Broughton of Kansas; and nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
A family & friend’s gathering will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 9AM-1PM at the Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 E. Broadway, Monticello. 763-295-2918.
There will be a fixed camera filming the gathering. The sound will be on. You will be able to see people in their casual settings as they walk about and as they speak in their natural tones. There will be no microphoned speakers at any time during the gathering.
