Mitchell Alvah Hamlet, age 32 of Monticello, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by grandparents Alvah and Julia (Diethelm) Hamlet, and Lawrence and Elizabeth (Gee) LaBree; and aunt Rebecca (LaBree) Mattei . He is survived by mother Luella LaBree (Kevin); father Dennis Hamlet (Kerry); siblings Jacob (Emily), Bridget (Jonathan), Jessica, Kari (Darby), Eric (Jacqelene), and Emily (Jeff); nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, care workers; and friends of the family. Mitchell enjoyed spending time with loved ones and was always on the go, regardless of his complex special needs. Although he could not speak, Mitchell communicated through sounds and actions, oftentimes by gently taking someone’s hand to help him get what he wanted - usually a treat that he wasn’t supposed to have or a beloved fidget toy. Mitchell rarely sat still, but when he did, it was to enjoy a cuddle with someone close to him; and he liked nothing more than to have his hands and feet massaged. Mitchell’s infectious, devilish laugh would light up a room and have everyone joining in, without anyone knowing what was so funny. Mitchell taught everyone around him how to find joy in the little things. A memorial service and celebration of Mitchell’s life will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 11:00AM-1:00PM with a time to share memories at 12:30PM at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 E. Broadway, Monticello. 763-295-2918. (www.peterson-grimsmochapel.com)
