Obituary for Nikki Blackowiak

Over the last 27 years, this world was graced with knowing both Nick and Nikki Blackowiak. Reflecting on this time, it is clear to see that Nikki was a mellow, kind, and gentle soul. She spent time learning to grow into her true authentic self, which brought her happiness and appreciation of even the small things. She took her appreciation of the little things like a river flowing during a walk or soft blanket and a good book, and translated that into emanating love for those around her. Her soft humor and positive outlook will never be forgotten.

Nicholas Clark was born on August 12th, 1993, the second of three children to Steven and Kristine Blackowiak of Maple Plain. Growing up, Nick found joy in playing musical instruments, playing with his friends, cousins and siblings, and learning how stuff works. Nick started to learn guitar around 5 years old and exceled immediately, which lead him to playing with Footnow - a rock band with a few of his high school buddies. His family always knew that a musical pathway would be in the future. As young kids, he would choreograph dances, music and songs for him, his sister, brother and three cousins to perform to their parents and grandparents at the cabin. Nick's desire to put things together - or take them apart - demonstrated his inquisitive nature and intelligence. It was not hard to see that Nick was going to impact people in big ways.

As Nicholas blossomed into her true self as Nikki, his sweet, caring, funny, loving, inquisitive nature carried over. Nikki had a way making everyone around her feel valued and calm. She would speak with you in a way that never made you feel judged, but always cared for. She was excited for her growing family - an auntie to be this year and a brother-in-law to come soon. If she could have it her way, she would have spent her days volunteering to help others, but as life goes, she needed a job that would help support her financially. She worked at Goodwill and developed an amazing connection with her coworkers and customers (not to mention the added perk of shopping at the end of her shifts - she loved a fashionable wardrobe). Those who knew her, loved her. Her sweet soul will be forever missed.

At the age of 27, Nikki passed away at her home on Thursday, March 11, 2021. She was met at heavens gates by her grandparents, Rollie and Julie Beaulieu; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She is survived by her parents, Steven and Kristine Blackowiak; siblings, Jake Blackowiak and Chantelle (Brandon Greeley) Blackowiak; grandparents, Frank and Faith Blackowiak; Aunts, Rita (Mike Ferrera) Blackowiak, Kim (Mike Glumack) Beaulieu; uncle, Richard Beaulieu; cousins Ashley, Amberley and Austin Hirsch; and many other loved ones.
