Patricia M. Markling (Farnick), age 87 of Monticello, MN., passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2024 at her St. Benedict’s residence, surrounded by family.

Upon graduating from Monticello High School, she was married to Walter Markling. They were married for 61 years, until Walt’s passing in June 2018. Pat’s memory is carried on by her six children; son’s Kurt (Debra), Scott, Doug, Bruce (Jennifer); daughters Kim, Kay (Brian) Herzfeld; sibling Rick (Sue) Farnick;
9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren (1 on the way) and 3 great-great grandchildren (1 on the way).
Pat was a life-long, active member of St. Henry’s Church. She willingly volunteered and genuinely enjoyed overseeing new-comer registrations, card ministry, prayer chain, confirmation and RCIA sponsorship activities. She enjoyed travel, luncheons and playing cards with her close lady friends, as well as her love for doing ceramics.
Pat lived her life from a selfless foundation of putting others first and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Most of all, the love of family came first; particularly the time spent with her grandchildren, who brought her much joy.
The Markling Family would like to give special recognition and sincere appreciation to the entire staff at St. Bens, as well as Mary Rassat, who provided Pat remarkable care, love and support.
The visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Monticello, MN. (1001 E. 7th Street, Monticello, MN. 55362).
