Patricia (Pat) Ann Persons
April 24, 1941 – October 6, 2025
Patricia (Pat) Ann Persons passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 6th, 2025, at the age of 84.
Pat was born on April 24, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to George and Bernice (Hasty) Wieseler. After the early loss of her father in 1944, Pat was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Casper R. Overson, in South Minneapolis.
On February 13, 1960, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Allen Persons. They made their first home in South Minneapolis, eventually moving their three young children to Maple Lake, in 1973. They bought 14 acres of raw property and turned it into a hobby farm. Pat loved gardening or what she called “just putzin”. She loved to be outside and had a love for nature and animals. She had cows, pigs and horses at the farm, and a dog or cat was always by her side.
After the sudden loss of her husband, Pat returned to Minneapolis in 1985. Shortly following the move, she began working at Bloomington Lake Clinic, where she remained a dedicated employee until her retirement at age 70.
Pat also had a lifelong passion for reading, puzzles, mysteries, and games. She loved spending time with her eight grandchildren, often shopping with them, hosting family birthdays and celebrating holidays!
In her final years, Pat faced the challenges of dementia with strength and the support of her family, especially her daughter Cheryl, who served as her caregiver. Despite the hardships, Pat's big smile and spark for life remained with her.
Pat is survived by her children: Kenneth (Sue) Persons Jr., Debra Smith, and Cheryl Persons; her eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Persons; her mother, Bernice Overson; her fathers, George Wieseler and Casper Overson; and her brothers Joseph Wieseler and Theodore Overson.
She will be remembered for her love of animals, her inquisitive mind, and the many ways she brought joy and comfort to those around her. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 2, 2025 at Lake Hiawatha Recreation Center from 1:00-3:00pm with a service held at 2:30. A light luncheon will be provided.
Address: Lake Hiawatha Recreation Center
2701 E. 44th St, Minneapolis, MN 55406
