Randall “Randy” William Puppe

Age 78, Formerly of Northfield

Passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta, MN. He was preceded in death by parents John and Frieda (Diercks) Puppe; siblings Delores Hanson, and Ray Puppe; and wife Janet (Borchardt) Puppe. He is survived by sons Cory (Deanna), and Andrew Puppe; grandchildren Austin Puppe, Aaron Puppe, Kylee Knettel, and Annika Puppe; partner LeAnn Lasure; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Randy started teaching in Askov, MN in 1969, and continued at Northfield High School where he taught drivers education and math. He also coached track, basketball, football, and volleyball. He moved to Big Lake, MN, after he retired from many years in Northfield, and became a substitute teacher in Becker, Big Lake, St. Michael and Monticello. He was a highly requested sub, delighting the students with his presence. They brought treats to satisfy Mr. Puppe’s sweet tooth and were always on their best behavior. His teaching skills extended to the swimming pool and golf course at Carefree Country Club, in giving swimming lessons to his grandkids or by showing them how to swing a club or sink a "grandpa" putt.

Carefree Country Club in Big Lake was Randy’s haven. He spent over 35 years there as an active member volunteering, entertaining family, visiting with friends, and arguably playing more golf than anyone.

He will be forever missed and leaves behind many fond memories and amusing stories. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
