Randy Knipfer, age 60 of Monticello, beloved husband and father, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born and raised in Iowa and moved to Minnesota after serving in the United States Army, where he met his wife, Colleen. They married in 1992 and later welcomed their twin daughters, Sara and Jordan.
Randy spent much of his life rescuing animals, especially his hunting dog, Bart. He loved to hunt and fish, and spend as much time as he could outside. And when Randy was inside, he could be found sitting around a table playing cards with family and friends. Randy made friends wherever he went and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is preceded in death by his parents; hunting dog, Bart; and 15 loved cats.
Randy will be missed every day by his wife, Colleen; two daughters, Sara and Jordan; aunts and uncles, Polly (Richard), Susie, Freddy; several cousins; beloved cats, Sadie and Marley; as well as multiple neighbors and friends, including Aili, Monica and Jermey and their children.
Randy was very connected with nature and would stop everything to go on a wildlife drive with his wife and kids. Because of Randy’s love of nature, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge by making checks payable to: Friends of Sherburne NWR, c/o Sherburne NWR, 17076 293rd Avenue NW, Zimmerman, MN 55398.
