Age 96  of Cambridge

Passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge. He was preceded in death by his wife Margot Ardis Steensgard; brother Raymond Steensgard; and grandsons Michael Christian Steensgard, and Benjamin Robert Steensgard. He is survived by sons Mark (Dawn) of St. Francis, Paul (Annette) of Champlin, David (Ann) of Burnsville; daughter Dawn (Lee) Strong of Zimmerman; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Robert grew up in Canton, MN. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 539 – Minneapolis and Pipefitters Local 469 - Phoenix, having worked on large building projects located throughout the country. He built a lovely rose garden for his wife, and other flower and vegetable gardens for his adult children. He was a founding member of the “Clown Club” through the Bloomington American Legion. The club provided entertainment to children’s hospitals, various parades, and even his own grandchildren’s elementary schools and parties. Above all, Robert will be remembered as the “Greatest Father and Grandfather on Earth”.   A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023 with visitation 1 hour prior at the Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, 250 E. Broadway Street, Monticello. 763-295-2918. (www.peterson-grimsmochapel.com) . Interment to be held at Orrock Cemetery, Orrock Township at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred in Robert’s name to Alzheimer’s Association of Minnesota.
