Russell Laverne Larsen

Russell Laverne Larsen, age 70 of Monticello, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2023. He was born October 22, 1952 in Owatonna.

Russ graduated from Monticello High School with the class of 1971 and played on the basketball and baseball teams.

He enjoyed spending time in nature and avidly fishing and going deer hunting. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, golfing, bowling, playing cards, collecting old coins, and spending time with his family and friends.

Russ had a joking personality with a big heart and will be dearly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Etta Larsen; sister, Julie Larsen; brothers-in-law, Richard Winter, Dave Gagne; and beloved cat, Sneakers.

Russ is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Carole Larsen; children, Adam (Stacey) Larsen, Erin (Chad) Hollister; father, Kenneth (Delores) Larsen; grandchildren, Tyler, Bailey (Kerlyn), Payton (Austin), Hailey, Isaac, Emry, Jonas, Adalyn; siblings, Mike (Jane) Larsen, Cheri Gagne, Rebecca (Robert) Yaeger, Kay Winkelman; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 449 W Broadway St, with Pastor Amy Chalupnik officiating.

A celebration of life for Russ will also be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Monticello VFW, 713 Cedar Street, Monticello, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
