Age 62, of Big Lake, passed away on Jan 29, 2021.
Thomas Richard Hapke was born on October 7, 1958 in Pipestone, Minnesota, the son of Wayne and Gladys (Vollmer) Hapke of rural Holland, Minnesota. Tom was raised on the family farm in Holland. He graduated from Pipestone High School and moved to Big Lake Minnesota, where he started working for Nutrien Ag Solutions in Big Lake. He would work the next 26 years serving the area agriculture community. Tom enjoyed his work, it was always fun to drive out in the countryside to watch the crops grow. When Tom was not working he would often try and spend as much time as possible with his daughter Cheyenne, the light of his life. In his spare time, he would go pheasant hunting, bowling or could be found throwing beanbags. He had a witty sarcasm to his personality and was not the type of person that would hold back, he let you know his honest opinion. He was the father and friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone he met. His caring friendly personality will be missed.
Tom passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness on Friday, January 29, 2021. He was 62 years old. Tom is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne Backlund of Fargo, ND; brothers, John Hapke, Tim (Danielle) Hapke. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Gladys Hapke; brother, James “Jim” Hapke.
A Celebration of Tom’s Life will take place on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 4:30-7:00PM at McPete’s Sports Bar & Lanes, 590 Humboldt Drive, Big Lake.
Interment will take place at a later date in Tom’s home town of Holland, Minnesota.
