Thomas "Tom" C. James Maanum, 50, died June 25, 2022, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN with family by his side. Tom was born April 12, 1972, in Fosston, MN to C. James and Donna Maanum. Tom absolutely loved his kids, Finley and Sailor, with all of his heart and soul. His time revolved around his kids, spending time with family and gathering with friends. Tom recently joined the team at Ryan Companies as National Healthcare Sector Field Coordinator. He spent the last 22 years at McGough Construction; most recently holding the role of Director of Field Operations. Throughout his career he loved learning from those that paved the way before him, and he equally loved the opportunity to build into those that were growing in their careers. Tom is survived by his children, Finley Thomas Maanum (18), and Sailor Marion Maanum (15); father C. James Maanum; sisters and brothers; Lisa (Steve) Richards, Travis (Kim) Maanum, Troy (Julie) Palas, and Amanda Maanum; his girlfriend Angela Pearson; and many, many friends. Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Madonna Palas. Tom will be remembered for leading an exceptional life. He had a gift for being present for his children, for his family, and his friends. If you needed help with a project and called Tom, he would not only make time to help with the project, but to lead it if necessary. Tom made family events a priority and would consistently introduce us to new recipes. He was prepared; when you needed something, he not only had what you needed, but backups as well. He loved to cook his campfire breakfasts, also known as ‘Big Breakfast,’ that would feed a small army. Tom loved his time “Up North’ at his lake property. He spent most of his weekends up there with his kids, family, or alone - it was his favorite place to be. At his lake property in Crosby, Tom loved to go fishing, make meals, go on pontoon and side by side rides, bonfires, build things, tend to the property, and just simply enjoy being on the water. Tom was the true MacGyver, avid outdoorsman, the perfect family man, and had a YETI for all occasions with two backups. Please join us in celebrating Tom’s life at the Quarry Community Church, 3939 Chelsea Road in Monticello, MN on Wednesday, July 6th at 4:30PM.
