Willard D. Swanson

Willard D. Swanson, age 86 of Big Lake, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026 at his residence.

He was preceded by his parents Wilfred and Violet (Woolhouse) Swanson. Willard is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Connie; children Tammy (Peter) Gillispie, Rozanne (Doug) Fread, Nettie Danzl, Rhonda Danzl, Sean (Joni) Danzl; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Willard was a lifelong resident of Big Lake where he worked for 38 dedicated years as a custodian and eventually the Lead Custodian at the Big Lake School District. He had a real eye for detail and cleanliness. If you had ever visited his home you could tell by the meticulous lines mowed into his grass, or his extraordinarily clean garage. Willard enjoyed his collection of Department 56 North Pole collectibles, ice fishing, classic cars, Westerns, and the Chicago Cubs. His real love was spending time with Connie, and his kids and grandkids. Willard will be sorely missed and forever loved.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Saron Lutheran Church, 311 Lake Street South, Big Lake, MN, with service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Big Lake Cemetery in Big Lake. Luncheon will be served at the church following the interment. Services have been entrusted to the Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel ~ Monticello. 763-295-2918.
