William Hoffarth Obituary

William "Bill" Hoffarth was born to Michael and Frances Hoffarth on November 15, 1948, in Langdon, ND.  He attended school in Langdon and graduated from St. Alphonsus High School.  After high school, he attended the North Dakota State School of Science. He married Sharon Smith in Mandan, ND.  They lived in Bismarck with their three children until work brought them to Monticello, MN.  Bill belonged to the Sheet Metal Workers Union and was a tinner at Harris Companies until his retirement. Bill loved staying busy around his house and in his yard.  Bill finished the basement in his and Sharon's home along with making his yard a beautiful place for his children and grandchildren to play.  He took great pride in his lawn and made sure the weeds were minimal if nonexistent.  He taught each of his children how to drive, starting on his Simplicity lawn mower.  He loved mowing the lawn and would do it multiple times a week after retirement.  He even generously mowed his neighbor's yard when they were unable to care for it themselves. His children were his pride and joy.  Bill loved going to all of his children's sporting events from baseball and bowling, to softball, and volleyball.  He was at almost every game and did a lot of the driving to events and practices.  He was even willing to carpool with other parents to get their kids home from practices.  Bill was not a lazy dad, doing many things that his children will always treasure: Twin's games, fishing, kite flying, sledding, museums, movies, watching Sioux Hockey and playing around the house on lazy weekends.  He taught them how to play Pinochle at a young age and played with them for many years.  Bill also loved each of his grandchildren and loved getting to see them.  Bill was a friendly neighbor and loved talking to everyone.  He had a naughty giggle and those who knew him would know that he was not being truthful when he laughed.  The final couple of years, he had a scooter, and he was able to zoom around the neighborhood helping out as best he could to enjoy the company of people. Bill was deeply faithful having been raised Catholic and loved being a part of his church community.  He was an active member of St. Henry's Knights of Columbus and volunteered with them for multiple events throughout the years.  Each of his children were confirmed and continue to practice the Christian faith. Bill is survived by his wife Sharon Lee of Monticello, MN; son Patton (Kodi) Hoffarth of Corcoran, MN; Jocelyn Hoffarth (Aaron Muelhbauer) of Otsego, MN; Colette (Brandon) Grantz of Monticello, MN; 7 grandchildren Arthur and Evelyn Grantz, Bridget, Samuel, Tessa, and Miriam Hoffarth, and Cyrus Muelhbauer; brothers Dennis (Janet), Vince, Mike, Steve (Julie); sisters Mary Fran (Vernon) Moore, Lou Wagner (Wayne Kroetsch) Alice Dacus and Deb Demmers; in-laws Relda (Sherman) Hyde, Ben Smith, Bo Smith and Allen Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by his sister Teresa Lavoie, brother Al, and parents Michael and Frances. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the CHURCH OF ST. HENRY, 1001 E. 7th St, Monticello. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at church.
